Morning everyone,
I just attended a seminar sponsored by New Carolina on the nuclear renaissance in our nation. Duke Energy plans to invest $300-$500 billion dollars in the next 10 years building nuclear power plants. Two of their largest subcontractors, Westinghouse and Siemens Energy, were on hand to discuss their dire need for local suppliers.
Both Siemens and Westinghouse are spending millions purchasing direct and indirect supplies to construct/maintain these and other power plants. They are literally begging for local suppliers so that they can avoid currency conversion, importing and other costs/headaches.
Westinghouse
• Go to
http://supply.westinghousenuclear.com• Select the “Become a Supplier” or “Click Here” link to complete the supplier initial interest form
• If any of their buyers (in all the Westinghouse facilities worldwide) are interested in learning more about your products or services, you will receive a username and password and then be asked to complete their full supplier evaluation form.
Because this is the nuclear industry, there is a complex process involved in becoming an approved vendor. But there are consultants to help you through the process, there are millions of dollars of potential sales involved and once you’re in, you’re in. They want to do business locally, would love to spend within SC or the southeast and will work with businesses to help them through the process of becoming an approved vendor. I have much more detailed information that I’ll be glad to share with you if you’re interested so feel free to call or email with any questions.
Siemens Energy Inc.
The process for becoming an approved supplier to Siemens is not as automated. I’ve got a call into them to be sure I have the correct contact information for them and will send you that information in a separate email.
Savannah River Site
We are in the process of scheduling a workshop with the procurement staff of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions so that you can meet directly with them and learn what they will be purchasing and how you can bid on it. More on that later as our plans finalize.
In the meantime, go to
www.srs.gov/recovery and click on DOING BUISNESS. Complete the questionnaire and submit to be considered and receive more information.
Again, I brought back much more information from the conference and will be happy to share with anyone who’s interested so let me know if you’d like more info on these opportunities. More info to follow on contacting Siemens.
Thanks!
